Founded in 2017, the Lynx trio is: Mary-Elizabeth Thompson, flute; Hope Cowan, harp; and Jorge Martinez-Rios, viola. These three musicians were brought together by their love of chamber music, and the joy they receive from performing for communities throughout the Southwest and beyond! Performances include: The Mexican Consulate in El Paso, Big Bend Chamber Music in Alpine, Alpine Public Library, a residency at Sul Ross University, Harris County Public Libraries, Archway Gallery in Houston, the Phil Kramer Recital Series, and the inaugural concert for La Asociación de Música de Cámara del Norte in Mexico. Performances have been featured on Marfa Public Radio.
Enthusiastic advocates for New Music, The Lynx Trio commissioned and premiered the title track on Michael Bratt’s album “The Darkroom”. They also received an American Harp Society Grant to commission a new work by Alejandro Basulto, which was premiered in 2022 and has been enthusiastically received by audiences during the 2022-2023 concert season!
